We are actually selling stuff.

Finally getting around to doing some inventory here, and I'm pretty surprised how little we have left of things. Yes, we have actually sold some stuff. We have less than 40 of the Fugue 7", less than 35 of "Everyone I Know Who Skis is Dead", and less than 30 of "Riley Versus Jason". We suggest that you pick these up if you haven't already, because they will most likely be sold out by the end of the year. Also, at Fugue shows and other assorted concerts, I (Garrett) will be lugging around these red tote full of Avocado releases and other friends' releases. We are finally updating our online store and are becoming a better distro. By the end of the month, we will be selling releases by La Bella, Enough Said, Pocketknife, Fell To Low, and many others. So check it out when you get the chance. Trying to keep busy, trying to use the pennies wisely.

"...The Return of the Guardian Angel" done and ready to order.

Bedhed's 16-track album "...The Return of the Guardian Angel" is finally available in a physical format (cassette tape). We will be shipping out preorders this week, and cassettes will be distributed throughout the Southern California area. For fun, those who order from the Avocado online store will received a limited edition red O-Card (really, there is only six of them.) The cassette came out beautifully, and we are happy with the results of the artwork. The tape comes with a credits insert and a free digital download of the entire album. We are very excited about this release, and we hope you will pick one up. Honestly, I've beenk

AVO-003 is here. AVO-004, 005, and 006 are on the way.

Running a label, even with just doing tapes, is harder than expected. Money goes quick; getting the word out about releases takes a lot of time and effort; people tend to move slow. That's okay though, we aren't complaining. We didn't start all this to make the big bills. Or did we? Well, either way, good news is to be had.

AVO-003, "Riley Versus Jason in the Battle of Gracious Living" is now available for order from our store. They came out great; M2 Communications does a great job, and we appreciate their work. The cassette comes with a free digital download, so if you complain about not having a tape player, now you can listen to this on your non-tape player.

AVO-004, Bedhed's "...The Return of the Guardian Angel" is in the process of being made. Finding the right kind of black cassettes took a while, but they are being sent off to the tape duplication place. We have put up a preorder for the cassette, just in case you wanna. Looking forward to this release quite a bit.

AVO-005 is the first physical release of the band Pelican Vision. Pelican Vision is headed by our very own Avocado dude, Jacob Brown. For those who appreciate the work of David Bazan (specifically PTL's Control) and the Weakerthans, their 4-song EP cassette "Isolation" will be something worth purchasing. Everything will be sent off in a couple weeks, and the cassette should be ready for purchase by the beginning of June.

AVO-006, which may be out before AVO-005, is the 6-song EP cassette "Our Heads Often Used To Swim" by the band Raise High These Roof Beams. Quite the mouth-full. Raise High These Roof Beams is the solo project of Jeremy Leasure (of Canyons fame). When asked by Braden Nelson to record songs for a project in music school, Jeremy wrote and recorded the EP with Braden and others within a month's span. The physical release will feature a large poster designed and created by Jeremy himself. The tape is being aimed to be completed by May 30th for the RHTRB release show.

We have a few other releases coming down the line, and we will keep you updated on it all. If you are interested...

AVO-003 Roman Candles Tape Pre-Order

The Roman Candles "Riley Versus Jason..." cassette is being made as we speak, so we thought we'd throw up a preorder for it. Really excited about this release, since it will feature a 5-panel J-card (one of many firsts for us) and a digital download for all you mp3 fanatics. We assume the tapes will be ready before April 29th, but we are making that the official release date. If we can send them out before then, we certainly will. Preorder the tape HERE.

The Bedhed "Return of the Guardian Angel" cassette will be available for preorder by the end of the month. From there, we have a few more releases lined up that will be announced in the coming weeks. For now, enjoy your lives.

Avocado Press #1 - "Glimpses"

We are trying to bite off more than we can chew, but even if we are...oh well. Gotta go bankrupt sometime, right? Along with our upcoming music releases, we are also going to be releasing our first written work. To be semi-appropriate, this will be under our "Avocado Press" title. Really, it just feels fancier. We will be publishing the first issue of G.A. La Bonte's GLIMPSES, his zine that he has been working on for the past 4-6 months. GLIMPSES is a collection of interviews of people that have had some sort of influence on La Bonte and/or the community he lives in. This first issue will feature three interviews: firstly, Christopher Gordon of Roman Candles and writer/editor of The Stowaways, second Elliot Babin of Touche Amore/Dad Punchers, and finally Rudy Murillo of New Brigade and organizer of Destroy L.A. Fest. The issue will also feature short reviews on the bands that make up the current Yorba Linda scene and photography by the author. The zine is in final stages of design, and will hopefully be printed by the middle of the month. Depending on the length of the zine, the cost will be between $2-$3. More details to come once we get closer to printing. We are also working on some other works that we will be putting out through Avocado Press within the next few months, so please keep tabs on that.

the Roman Candles and the Bedhed tapes are in progress. Finances are a bit tight at the moment, but we are aiming to still have them done by our goal times. Thanks for those who have purchased tapes and 7 inches so far. Every dollar counts, and we really just appreciate that you like the artists we like too. Hope to hear from you soon.

AVO-003 & AVO-004 in produciton.

We're trying to act like we know what we are doing. So, in the next few months, we will be releasing two more tapes.

The first will be the cassette version of Roman Candles' "Riley VS Jason In The Battle of Gracious Living". Roman Candles is the creation of Christopher Gordon, a Yorba Linda native and writer of the zine the stowaways. Christopher has been a strong supporter of what we and others in the Southern California community have created, so it only makes sense that we release "Riley VS Jason" in what ever way we can. This album represents a lot of the frustrations and jaded feelings we have about growing up in Orange County, and it is definitely Roman Candles' strongest release to date. The cassette version of "Riley VS Jason" will be AVO-003, and should be ready for preorder by the end of February.

Our second release, AVO-004, will be the cassette release of Bedhed's current full length "...The Return of the Guardian Angel." Bedhed is moniker of Ian Holshevnikoff, a Los Angeles native. I discovered Bedhed through Torrance's Merry Christmas, local heroes and enthusiasts of local music. Through their internet fingers, they shared a link of Bedhed's "Destruction Manual"that had just been released early 2013. From there, our friends at therevolutionarypoor invited Ian to play an acoustic show in Yorba Linda and literally blew every attendee away with his acoustic performance. He has always been on my mind ever since. "...The Return of the Guardian Angel" is the kind of release that has once again reinstated our faith in local music. After listening to it at least 10 times through, we contacted Ian and offered to put out a cassette of the release. We hope to do this album justice, because it is sincerely one of the best releases we have heard from a local artist in a long time. This cassette should be available for preorder by the end of March, maybe early April.

One way you can help both of these releases get out faster is to purchase our first two releases: Fugue's "Solitude / Traffic" 7 inch, and Pedestrian's "Everyone I Know Who Skis Is Dead" cassette. We also have added Canyon's self-titled EP cassette and Loughton's "Technicolor Fracture" cassette to our distribution. We will be building our distro up throughout these next few months. We appreciate the support we have received thus far, and we look forward to doing more. Take it easy

AVO - 001 & 002

Displaying photo 2.JPGDisplaying photo 1.JPG

Say hello to Avocado #1 and #2.

#1 is the debut vinyl release of Fugue from Yorba Linda, California. This is a split release between us and the great Mountain Man Records. This is basically the release that brought Avocado into being, and we are excited it is finally done. It is a 2-song single pressed on a maroon marbled vinyl, featuring brand new tracks from the band. Fugue will be touring on this release throughout the west coast this January. Details can be found here.

#2 is the debut release of Aliso Viejo's Pedestrian. Inspired by those slow indie rock songs that you can't get enough and that borderline bum you out (in the best way possible), Pedestrian's "Everyone I Know Who Skis Is Dead" features 5 lengthy tracks that can easily suck you in for a good portion of your evening. The quartet has already gained a lot of momentum within their short existence, and we are honored to be bring their first official release into the world. Pedestrian is currently touring with this tape EP.

Both releases are available for mail order through our online store. Buy a copy if you'd like, or at least check the bands out. We would greatly, greatly appreciate it.
